This is the picture I wanted you to see of people being rescued from a home built on stilts at Bolivar Peninsula at the Texas Gulf Coast. I recall how odd houses like this seemed to me when I first saw them several years ago. This photo shows you how important this structure is to the residents during a storm like Hurricane Ike. A lot of you living up north would never have seen this type of building before.
I moved to East Texas over 15 years ago but my Canadian roots are still pretty obvious. Yonge Street is the main, very long, north-south street in Toronto, Ontario, Canada: my hometown. Hubby (born in Illinois) and I met at www.widownet.org. We love our life and feel we have been truly blessed. Texas is as BIG as you have heard and is a wonderful place with lots of friendly, outgoing people! Hope you enjoy my blog which is usually pretty upbeat.
